St Mary of the Assumption Church provides a USO-style Veterans Canteen. Twice a month, from June through October, they serve coffee and donuts to veterans at the Binghamton Regional Medical Clinic. But it’s more than just a treat—it’s a heartfelt connection. Volunteers and veterans share personal and military experiences, creating touching moments and meaningful conversations. For our elderly veterans, it’s a chance to share their life stories and find camaraderie.
Their reach doesn’t stop there. St Mary’s SHARE projects extend to multiple community efforts including the Reading Chair Project. Where they collect old, sturdy wooden chairs, then clean, sand, prime, and paint them with bright colors and fun designs. These “reading chairs” are donated to local educational centers like the Headstart Center and Mom’s House in Johnson City. They provide educators a special seat to share stories with young students, fostering a love of reading. A future project coming to SHARE, their mission is to collect brand-new twin-size blankets and beautiful tote bags for children entering foster care. These special items will offer comfort and a sense of ownership, replacing the often-used blankets and plastic bags they currently receive.

Auchinachie Services proudly gives back to the community that has supported our local business for more than a century.
In September of 2016, Auchinachie Services launched a program called Auchinachie Cares. Each month, our team selects a local non-profit organization and donates $1,000.00 to their cause. It’s a great way to bring awareness to these organizations and reward them for the great work they do in and for our community.
The Grow Binghamton youth program provides meaningful employment for 25 youth (ages 14-21) for eight weeks during the spring, six weeks during the summer, and eight weeks during the fall. This program allows youth to build critical life and job skills while engaging them in creating greater food security for Binghamton residents. Youth participate in food production, from seed starting to distributing produce to Binghamton residents needing access to fresh, affordable food and building community gardens. In addition to their hard work that produces thousands of pounds of vegetables each year, youth learn soft skills such as accepting constructive criticism, communicating and working in a group, and being punctual and reliable. . #AuchinachieCares s #SummerProgram #VINES #BroomeCounty #Auchinachie
